ARSENE WENGER’S GUNNER GO FOR £12M VICTOR MOSES
8th July 2012 By Harry Pratt

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/vie ... tor-Moses/?

ARSENAL are set to hijack Chelsea and Liverpool’s scrap for Victor Moses – if contract rebel Theo Walcott refuses to commit to them long term. Wigan playmaker Moses, 21, is one of the Premier League’s hottest properties, following a brilliant last campaign when he was central to his team’s miraculous survival.

New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has earmarked the Nigerian international as one of his top summer targets, while Moses’ agent says he would prefer a move to Chelsea. But Wigan have resisted all bids for the player – who is out of contract next summer – and owner Dave Whelan has slapped a £12million price-tag on his head.

Now Arsene Wenger is ready to emerge as a rival in the race as doubts about Walcott’s future grow. The England winger, 23 (below), is unhappy with the offer of a new four-year deal, worth £70,000-a-week. He wants nearer £100,000.

That stalemate is still to be resolved and – with only 12 months left on Walcott’s existing deal – Wenger has told the Gunners board to off-load him for anything around £15m.

One man right behind Wenger’s tough stance is former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson. Now a presenter on ArsenalTV.com, Robson rapped: “I said it a few weeks ago before the Euros and got slaughtered for it – but if Walcott won’t sign, then the club should sell him now. “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a much better player. Walcott is not worth the sort of money he is after.”

Massively overrated imo and in a position where we're pretty well stocked. Not going to happen, thankfully.

On his day, he is a decent winger but that is on his day and have rarely understood the fuss about him. So hope not.

He's like a very poor Walcott, and given the stick he has on here, that would be one of the worst transfers I can think of.

Reckon its a load of rubbish though, Chelsea are the only team known to have an interest and if the £12m fee is correct then we will definately look elsewhere.

His stats are terrible, this is making me quite irate. He's just a very limited player. Scott Sinclair is better and I dont think he is great.

He didn't look all that rubbish when he tore Bacary Sagna a new one last season. In fact, he was instrumental in Wigan staying up.

I think you're all being a bit harsh. He's young, plays for a rubbish team but on his day he's brilliant.

I dont believe it so I am chilled, and yes he took apart Sagna, but that was one of his first games back from a very long spell out.

Miyachi has shown more in the 10 games for Bolton then Moses has. Seriously, if we spend more than £2 million on Moses then I will be totally shocked (and depressed).

I don't rate the guy above Podolski, Walcott, Gervinho, Arshavin or Miyaichi and certainly not above Chamberlain. We have enough players of his level, it's the top level we require of our wingers to be at. Victor Moses is not that.

If Wenger is seiously considering 12 million for this guy when Kalou was on a free and Benayoun is available for probably half that amount, two players much better than this guy, then he needs shooting.

Dave Whelan has said he wants £10 million for Moses and he won't accept a player exchange/loan in.

Dave Whelan also said Martinez was offered the Liverpool job, making Ian Ayre (LIverpool Chairman) say that he must be the biggest comedian in the North or something along those lines.

Dave Whelan, always an opinion on matters. He should probably be more concerned with trying to turn around the fortunes of JJB or increasing attendances at the Dave Whelan stadium.

£10 million is frankly a joke. Moses is good but nothing better. Dont think he has any more about him then Hoilett and not many made a move for him and he was going for peanuts (£500k). Cant see where he would fit in at Chelsea either, not even if Malouda does find a club.

So I take it your a fan of Whelan then

Yeah, I doubt Wigan will get that fee and will be forced to settle for far less as the transfer window draws closer to the end.

Victor Moses had the most shots without scoring a goal at one point last season... says it all as far as I'm concerned.

If we were going to go in for a winger who impressed for a rubbish side last season then it would surely have been Hoillett. As it happens we've already got about 20 wingers.

His end product is a lot better than Gervinho, not that I'm particularly enthusiastic over this rumour.

Gervinho scored 36 goals in 87 games for Lille. I know his end product hasn't been great at Arsenal but it can't be that bad to get that sort of return, whatever league you're playing in.

Moses on the other hand has 9 goals in 79 Wigan appearances.

And as Balboa pointed out, Moses had the most shots on goal last season without hitting the target. Gervinho may not have been so clinical but you're being harsh by comparing him to a bang average lower level Premiership player.
