I never thought in a million years it would be possible for this side to go backwards defensively. Today they are categorically proving me wrong. 1-0 up but we're an absolute joke at the back.

Absolute embarrassment. Our defending. The persistence with the abysmal Xhaka...

This will be a long season unless Emery makes some big decisions quickly. His style and team selections are not working.

If the game plan is to blow them out of the water offensively then fine but it requires these superstar strikers and midfielders to score goals. And their not.

As for the defence - the most overused cliche under Wenger was the definition of insanity is trying to do the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That now applies to Emery.

He wants to play out from the back? Fine. Can't do it with Cech. He has shown that in no uncertain circumstances from the first game! What's he done persisted and he's single handedly given Cardiff more chances in 60 minutes of football than they've had all season!

Granit Xhaka. The bloke is a joke. Persistently one of, if not our worst performer, who constantly loses the ball in dangerous positions and inevitably costs us at least a goal game.

How good we are going forward is irrelevant when our defence is this bad in my opinion. It's blind gung ho football with zero cohesion anywhere.

We quite simply have to change our system. 2-1 now courtesy of a sublime goal by PEA. Be amazed if there's not another goal in this mind.

In the end, the superstar strikers did come through and in fairness it was harsh on Lacazette has he did play well and offered us something. Still, another disjointed performance with more questions than answers up both ends of the pitch.

What does Torreira have to do to start?

Break Xhaka's legs in training. Guaranteed he'll start the next game alongside Xhaka.
