Good to see Liverpool and Tottenham lose, Agger was sent off for a professional foul right? Which is only 1 game suspension which means he'll return for the Arsenal game.

I thought a straight red was 3 games? 2 yellows 1 game?

I believe its only a 3 game ban if its violent conduct, but denying an opponent a goal scoring opportunity usually results in only a 1 game suspension.

You may be right.

I thought Spurs looked good for the opening half hour, they defended well high up the pitch and Bale, Lennon and Sigurdsson looked dangerous. Newcastle were poor.

After that Spurs seemed to tire in the heat and it was a bit more even, Newcastle with their two striker system meant they had less of the ball in the middle of the pitch but looked more likely to score when it was in the opponents half.

Ben Arfa is a quality footballer, his footwork is brilliant and he reminds me a little of Nasri in his style. He does go missing for large parts of the game but has the potential to pull a match winning move. Anyway, a defeat for Spurs is always nice.

I tipped Michu to be a big player for Swansea before the league started, 19 goals from midfield in La Liga last season is a big feat and he's already proving to be quite a coup. I tipped Swansea to be strong this season.

I had a bet on Reading, QPR and West Ham to get relegated at 125/1 this morning.

Didn't see any of the games, so I can't comment on why Agger was sent off, but Brian is right. A straight red is a 3 game van if there is violent conduct. And so few professional could seem to be called that it doesn't seem to come up much.

Somewhat fortunate win for Newcastle, as Spurs coped quite comfortably with them for most of the game. Superb strike from Ba, about time he stepped back up to the plate. Wondered at AVB benching Vertonghen; fully expected him to go straight in as the no.1 defender and, irrespective, I think he's a better defensive mid than the two he used.

QPR 0 v 5 Swansea - LOVE this. There is not a manager I detest more than Mark Hughes, and there seemed to be a real vibe around QPR marching up the league this season. Bollocks to Hughes and bollocks to his patchwork assembly of players, I hope it is a sign of things to come.

Laudrup>Rodgers +8 goal swing. Football is a goddamn funny game!

I've got Michu in my Sun Dream Team, solely based on his 15 league goals last season. Naturally I have Agger in there too

Nice to see Steve Clarke get a brilliant win over his former employees as was it to see Michael Laudrup begin life in such spectacular fashion. A big win for the little guys today.

Rickie Lambert on the bench for Southampton, big kick in the teeth for him. Rodriguez starts up top for Southampton.

James Prowse-Ward starts, in what will be his first ever league appearance.

Can see Saints getting a stuffing.

Super game in Manchester. Not great defending - which could cost them, but some great attacking play.

The worst time to play promoted teams is at the start of the season when they seem to have so much enthusiasm and energy. Almost a shock, but qualit (albeit sub-par on the day) shone through. Nasri looks good.

Just finished watching Man City vs. Southampton on MOTD2. Interview with Mancini and he's asked if he has enough players and he says no, :yikes: My God how much players does he want to sign, he really IRKS me, he just strikes me as a manager that can't cope without Spending massive, a bit of the Harry Redknapp about him.

Robin van Persie 5/1 FG (BetVictor) tonight

Robin van Persie 1-0 (28/1) - 2-0 (33/1)

I'm having a flutter on him just because I think it's inevitable.

Won't be betting until I see the line ups naturally.

Seeing him come on and hearing that rabble chant his name. I feel sick.

I actually don't feel that bad seeing Van Persie play. I'm over it, he's moved, he spent 8 years here. I felt worse seeing Cesc.

Meanwhile, United are losing 1-0 to a Fellaini header. :chill:

All over.

Van Persie starts his United career with a defeat.
